veterans cemeteries throughout the US.
Job Description
The Project Directoris responsible for the coordination of project
team activities and supervision of Project Managers and multiple
projects. Specific Project Director responsibilities include
administrative duties and project procurement, organization, design
and development, coordination, staff supervision, scheduling, and
management to ensure the efficient production and delivery of
well-coordinated projects in a profitable and timely manner.
Day to Day
Administrative
- Maintains detailed knowledge of and contributes to office
policy, standards, and procedures;
- Assists with and initiates administrative activities, personnel
management, and staffing;
- Participates in office committee meetings;
Business Development
- Participates in weekly and quarterly Marketing Committee
meetings;
- Maintains detailed knowledge of RVi marketing procedures and
policy;
- Maintains regular contact with clients;
- Initiates, develops, and leads business development
activities;
- Champions target market activities and associated marketing
activities;
- Leads preparation of RFQ responses for target market;
- Secures additional work from existing clients and prepares
project amendments;
Project
- Initiates and manages contract agreement preparation and
negotiates their acceptance;
- Attends scheduling meetings;
- Demonstrates reliable performance managing multiple projects
and Project Managers;
- Organizes project teams;
- Effectively communicates with project team;
- Promotes a collaborative project team atmosphere;
- Manages project initiation, research, programming, and
conceptualization;
- Leads development of project goals and organization;
- Reviews and approves subconsultant agreements;
- Advocates creative planning and design solutions that meet
client goals;
- Prepares and reviews project correspondence, documentation, and
presentation materials that meet project intent, schedule, and
budget expectations;
- Leads project and client meetings;
- Monitors and manages project and client
communications;
- Monitors subconsultant activities;
- Monitors document production;
- Demonstrates CAD knowledge
- Reviews and approves project materials and furnishings
selections;
- Reviews takeoffs and cost estimates and manages project
budgets;
- Manages project Quality Control review;
- Coordinates project presentation materials and leads design
review and client presentations;
- Prepares and reviews project specifications and coordinates
with drawings;
- Reviews project documents to confirm adherence to client
requirements and planning/design intent;
- Approves and seals construction documents;
- Monitors construction administration activities and makes site
visits;
- Monitors project submittal review;
- Manages project fee budget, profitability, and schedule and
updates leadership monthly
- Effectively delegates tasks to Staff Designers, Staff Planners,
and Student Interns;
Training
- Serves as a mentor to Project Managers, Staff Designers and
Staff Planners, and Student Interns;
- Manages and attends continuing education opportunities in
alignment with target market, licensure requirements, and RVi
Professional Development Plan;
- Seeks and advocates continuing education opportunities for
junior staff;
- Participates in annual performance evaluation;
- Participates in annual performance evaluations of Project
Managers, Staff Designers and Planners;
- Participates in 360 Partnership program
Requirements
Education
Landscape Architecture or Planning degree from accredited BLA or
MLA university program.
Registration and Certification
Registered Landscape Architect or Certified Planner (AICP, LEED)
CLARB certification (for licensed Landscape Architects only) -

- Minimum 10 years of experience in a private sector design or
planning office;
