Advanced Heart Failure Cardiology Locums Opportunity - Fort Myers, FloridaQuick Facts for Candidate ScreeningAvailability Needed

• Assignment Dates: August 5, 2026 - December 31, 2026
• Weekend coverage required

Required Weekend Schedule

• Friday 5:00 PM - Monday 8:00 AM
• Saturday & Sunday rounding included
• Overnight call included

Weekend Workflow

• Approximately 8 hours onsite rounding daily
• Remaining hours considered call coverage

License & Certification RequirementsBoard Certification

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology (ABIM)

Fellowship Training

• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Advanced Heart Failure Fellowship required

Preferred Experience

• More than 5 years post-fellowship experience preferred

Credentialing Requirement

• NPDB report must be less than 3 months old
• No exceptions

Clinical Experience RequirementsRequired Expertise

• Advanced Heart Failure management
• Mechanical circulatory support
• Heart transplantation patient management

Must Be Proficient In

• Impella management
• ECMO management
• Cardiogenic shock patients
• Advanced heart failure patients

Program Scope

• No implant LVAD program currently
• No heart transplants performed onsite
• Close collaboration with regional transplant centers

• Advanced heart failure
• Cardiogenic shock
• Mechanical circulatory support patients

Clinical Setting

• Inpatient and outpatient responsibilities

Clinic Coverage

• Physician sees patients independently

Inpatient Coverage

• APP support available most days
• Occasional independent rounding when APP unavailable (PTO/CME coverage)

Support StructureMultidisciplinary Team

• Advanced Heart Failure physicians
• Advanced Practice Providers
• Cardiovascular surgical team collaboration

• Strong interpersonal skills required

Telehealth

• Telehealth experience not required

Ideal Candidate

• BC/BE Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiologist
• Fellowship-trained in Advanced Heart Failure
• Experienced with Impella and ECMO management
• Comfortable caring for advanced heart failure and cardiogenic shock patients
• Available for weekend rounding and overnight call coverage
• Strong team-oriented communicator with interest in a growing advanced heart failure program
