A Day In the Life of a Kitchen Steward

As a kitchen steward your primary responsibility will be operating, maintaining and cleaning equipment and tools. You will also be responsible for washing dishes, china ware, flatware, cutlery, crockery, kitchen vessels, sweeping/mopping floors, cleaning and detailing equipment. You will maintain the kitchen, dishwashing and back area in inspection-ready condition. You will operate pot-washing machinery and maintain a hygienic working environment in accordance with hygiene regulations and company standards. You will adhere to all sanitation guidelines.You will assist the Cooks and Servers when necessary. You will clean and maintain floors and walls in both the kitchen and dishwashing areas by following standard procedures. You will clean large equipment as assigned and check all chemical levels and inventory. If any breakage or chipped items found you will remove them from circulation and update the inventory. You will assist in light food preparation as directed by manager or chef on duty. The kitchen steward, upon demonstrated job performance, will be considered for numerous growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role or in the hospitality industry
• Ability to work autonomously
• Positive and energetic attitude
• Ability to spend long periods of time on your feet in humid conditions
• Ability to carry 50 lbs as needed
• Ability to pass a drug test
