Job Description:

DaVita Medical is now hiring a Medical Assistant and Receptionist. You must be bilingual (English and Spanish) to be considered.

As the Medical Assistant and Receptionist you will report to the Center Administrator and provide a combination of back and front office support functions. You are primarily responsible for routine patient care within your level of training and will function under the direction/guidance of the clinical supervisor and the physician. As a secondary function, you may also be called upon to conduct appointment scheduling, patient registration, cashiering, answer incoming calls and other related clerical functions.
Education requirements --- High school diploma or GED. Experience requirements --- 2+ years of relevant back office, clinical experience required for those without an accredited Medical Assistant diploma or RMA or CMA designation.
--- CMA or RMA will be considered in lieu of experience.
--- Medical office experience preferred.
Qualifications --- Must be computer literate.
--- Knowledge of medical equipment and maintenance.
--- Must be able to display excellent telephone/switchboard etiquette.
--- Knowledge of medical coding preferred.
--- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
--- Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross).
--- Ability to travel may be required.

Completion of one of the following:
--- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program with a valid MA school OR
--- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) OR
--- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).

--- Ability to obtain CPR certification within 90 days of employment (Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross).
--- Working knowledge of basic Medical Assistant principles and practices.
Responsibilities --- Consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate commitment to superior customer service, including quality and care and concern with each and every internal and external customer.
--- Represent the company in a professional manner, following all company policies and procedures.
--- Use, protect, and disclose DaVita Medical Group patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
--- Greet patients in courteous and polite manner.
--- Administer immunizations, EKGs, ear washes, and other patient services. Assists in simple office and minor surgical procedures.
--- Assist with the education of the patient and/or family as directed by the physician.
--- Contact patients as needed to give testing results instructions from the physician and scheduling of necessary visits.
--- Conduct all front office functions as requested.
--- Answer telephone inquiries and triage calls.
--- Maintain patient medical records in accordance with company policy and maintain proper assembly of medical records.
--- Responsible for all laboratory duties, including drawing, spinning, prepping blood for testing, and maintaining appropriate logs.
--- Maintain equipment and adequate stock levels of consumables in laboratory area.
--- Act as liaison between all independent lab services and the center.
--- Monitor OSHA compliance of center laboratory.
--- Enter all test requisitions and encounters in the computer.
--- Perform venipuncture and administer medications as required under the direction of a physician.
--- Responsible for accurately and professionally handling all front desk operations, including answering phones, greeting patients, scheduling of all appointments, balancing daily collections, addressing routine inquiries, and forwarding non-routine requests to appropriate personnel.
--- Receive incoming telephone calls in a prompt and courteous manner and perform clerical duties as directed.
--- Assist with the inventory and maintenance of business office supplies and the completion of business office reports.
--- Work daily reports, incomplete encounters, No Show reports, and other designated administrative reports according to company procedures.
--- Conduct all front office functions as requested. Skills --- Ability to evaluate patient needs, administer prescribed medications, assist physician with examinations and treatment, prepare and apply dressings, and instruct patients in health measures and self-care as instructed by the physician.
--- Ability to document and report findings and observations.
--- Ability to perform EKGs.
--- Ability to provide on-site emergency treatment within scope of practice.
--- Ability to interact and verbally communicate effectively with patients and all levels of personnel in a professional, courteous and effective manner with excellent customer service skills.
--- Ability to multi- task in a high paced environment with good organizational skills.
--- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to work with general guidance.
--- Ability to read, speak, write, and understand the English language fluently.
--- Demonstrated clerical skills (typing, filing, telephone courtesy).
--- Strong phlebotomy skills are a plus.
